My friend and fellow Pennsylvanian Richard Mammana, an historian who now serves as lay rector of Mory's, happened to see my earlier posts and through extraordinary intelligence and diligence obtained three scans of contemporaneous records touching on the Princess.
However fascinating the other documents may be, the above, which seems to have been filed at the American consulate in London shortly after her marriage to the Prince, gives us a baffling hint about the Princess' feeling about the ex. She is consistently inconsistent. She refers to him as surnamed "Percy-FitzGerald" yet herself as the former Mrs. "Purcell-FitzGerald." No mere error--twice each way.
This is going all Wolf Hall, y'all.
